Blue and Red Tea Cosie`s

This is a very bright red wool tea cosie, chilli red.The flowers are all curled up around the edges as though caught in mid bloom
You would be hard pressed to find a Tea Cosie More blue than this one!Every flower is blue and the Basket itself is more than one shade of blue.
The grey wool used in the flower basket of this Tea Cosie is much softer than most wools.

This dark blue basket tea cosie with light blue flowers has silver thread in amongst the flowers petal layers and along the sides of the baskets handle. It is a deep evocative midnight blue and really gets that "by the light of the silvery moon"song lyric stuck in my head.Which is double annoying as i suspect the rest of the song to be rubbish as i don`t recall any of it,or the singer,or the title...

This dark grey wool is a bit unusual, having whispy bits of white throughout it.Reminds me of a wet rainy wind swept seaside town as you can tell from the title.

Lilac`s,Violet`s and light Purple Colours Tea Cosie
This fleshy pink and coral colour mixed wool tea pot warmer has something of the tropical about it,some of the flowers look a lot like  passionflowers

A richl thickly crocheted tea pot warmer, the dark inky purple really brings out the violet mix colour flowers on top.It has a lovely luscious look to it.
Dark Purples Flower Basket Tea Cosie
This light green  tea cosie looks a bit pastel shade but it isn`t quite. It is more solid a light green and the pink mix flowers on top are pastel pinks
Light Green Tea Cosie With Mixed Pinks
This green tea cosie with the bright red poppies on top is a little bit turquoise, you can see it has some blue in it[if you compare the basket to the leaves]just not enough to call it turquoise. There is one large tripled layered poppy on top, which should help keep the heat in whoever`s tea pot it ends up on!

Small Red Bloodied Witch Girl

These little witches look ceramic but are mostly cardboard and paper mache composite, which is a stronger kind of paper mache and can be sawn and sanded. This one has been covered in red resin which has dried solid plastic.Usually the drips are done with homemade gesso.

Mixed Media Witches Painting

In an after the disaster pose, these boney witches were a bit of a' just start it' and see where it goes sort of experiment.

Whilst i was making these items i realised what it is i want from female culture.I seem more often to spot the things i do not want from it such as fashion magazines, romantic comedies, dramas, relationship shows/stories and anything at all to with cooking.

But really there are a lot of things,It`s kind of a shopping list...

I want to know what those ancient cultures were, that had Goddess`s instead of god`s.What did their Goddess`s look like? I want to see films about them.I want to know what they believed in and how there societies differed from ours. Also i want to know how the Gorgons and Amazons lived, see films about them and their culture and lifestyles. How did this female dominated society work compared to modern society, does anybody know?

For every powerful, dominating statue of a male figure i want to see a female one.I want female culture to claim those powerful and dominating characteristics so associated with men for women.

I want to see female history commemorated/celebrated/reclaimed.The story of the women persecuted as witches retold as cautionary tales which still have relevance[it did not just happen in Salem.]I want all this to be a highly visible part of mainstream culture[that men can enjoy too if they wish to.]

Meshuggeneh Velt Etsy Shop

Empty Suit Acrylic Painting On Cardboard

Just opened a shop on Etsy for paintings, drawings and little witch figures.Had a browse around and am suddenly not optimistic, there are some fabulous arts shops on Etsy with under 20 sales!

Moody Black Faced Kitty Print In Hot Pink Frame
Black and White cubed Hearts Abstarct Painting
Small and Stout Little Red Witchling Figure
Little Pink Frame 'You Wouldnt Would You Woman'Badge
Witch As Rock Goddess With Aflame Updo

This is from my Etsy shop 'about me'
I do not believe in witches or the supernatural at all.I paint witches ironically and sarcastically which i always assume is obvious but keep being proved wrong.I find painting witches to be funny. That a woman can still get called a witch today is not particularly hilarious but I choose to have fun with the ridiculous and explore the many outfits and styles a modern witch could go for....

As Goya said ;"when reason sleeps demons take flight" i think this applies when people look at women,my witch pictures are an exploration of this. The image of the witch to me simply means an unnecessarily demonised woman, quite likely completely blameless.I do not know but do not believe that there is or ever was such a thing as a supernatural witch [bitch`s definitely exist though i`ve met lot`s of them!]

The little baby Witchling sculptures lead on from the pictures.Evolved from the generic 'ladies' symbol found on toilet doors all over the world. The most basic symbol of a woman turned into a witch child.Really more vacant of 'evil' than your average tin of biscuits.
