Acrylic and Oil Painted Portraits

An acrylic painting of actor Ben Whishaw on a postcard sized canvas. After painting my way through the myriad petal mazes of half a dozen roses over summer 2012 this painting of the side of a man`s face was areal joy to do.He is a bit more beardy in the photo.

Moody Man Painting .I recently sold this on Ebay.A lot of my painting s are available on Ebay  is currently available on Ebay

Painted this quite a few years ago now.I kept wondering at that time what would a modern witch look like? What would she wear?Pink bat accessories seemed the perfect answer.Mounted on a slightly cowboy hat styled witches hat.Of course it would not be a real dead bat it would be plastic.

Pouty Elvis.Looking for a nice photo of Elvis to paint i was really surprised to find out how bad he was at smiling. The photo i used for this was really blurry but in a good way although i should have given him a thumbnail.Love the colours though.

A lot of my paintings are also available on Folksy, which is the British site for handmade and everything is in pounds, but the listing fees are a bit high so they might not always be on there.

Black and White Acrylic Elvis

I had so much fun painting this Elvis picture.I spent more time doing the gradient effect on the background than i did painting him though!

This painting was a comission,i chose this picture of Elvis as i knew i would enjoy painting the background effect so much and i wanted to play with just adding a touch of colour to the black and white and a little pink to his face to see what would happen.

On reflection i might have lowered Elvis a bit so his head was nearer the centre.A practical adaption i was having too much fun to consider. As a consequence if it was framed you might loose a bit of his iconic quiff, hardly appropriate! But it really does not need framing.

Empty Suit Acrylic Painting On Cardboard

Just opened a shop on Etsy for paintings, drawings and little witch figures.Had a browse around and am suddenly not optimistic, there are some fabulous arts shops on Etsy with under 20 sales!

Witch As Rock Goddess With Aflame Updo

This is from my Etsy shop 'about me'
I do not believe in witches or the supernatural at all.I paint witches ironically and sarcastically which i always assume is obvious but keep being proved wrong.I find painting witches to be funny. That a woman can still get called a witch today is not particularly hilarious but I choose to have fun with the ridiculous and explore the many outfits and styles a modern witch could go for....

As Goya said ;"when reason sleeps demons take flight" i think this applies when people look at women,my witch pictures are an exploration of this. The image of the witch to me simply means an unnecessarily demonised woman, quite likely completely blameless.I do not know but do not believe that there is or ever was such a thing as a supernatural witch [bitch`s definitely exist though i`ve met lot`s of them!]

The little baby Witchling sculptures lead on from the pictures.Evolved from the generic 'ladies' symbol found on toilet doors all over the world. The most basic symbol of a woman turned into a witch child.Really more vacant of 'evil' than your average tin of biscuits.
